Human Resources Development Centre (HRDC) in collaboration with TechEduHubLtd, announces a training on Coding and Robotics for Primary and Secondary pupils..

Computer programmes are now the major drivers of productivity improvement around the world. All individuals especially the kids are surrounded by devices controlled by computers. Appreciating how they work and coping with new devices and innovation are enhanced by understanding coding. Introducing pupils to programming gives the pupils who are kids an appreciation of dividends of coding and Robotic Technology.

The approach to be deployed in the teaching of coding to the pupils is to combine it with Robotics. A Robot is a mechanical device that can be programmed to follow a set of instruction and they are done without being pushed. Robotics training is gaining popularity all over the world since it allows the children to have fun while they develop numerous STEM skills. It also increases their creative thinking. Technology increasingly uses Robots as they help to improve standardization, speed, reduce health hazards to mention but few. This approach is used so that pupils are not bored and they see the result of their codes come to manifest. They will learn how to programme drones that fly and build chatbot among other activities.

At the end of the training, the following will be achieved:

  • Pupils will be able to identify and put together different components of a robot (humanoid robots, drones, other vehicles and other Robotics Kit): Mechanical, Electrical and Computerizing demands of a robot. They will be able to identify what a Robot can do and cannot do. They get to think like an engineer which will further help them in life.
  • Pupils will be able to programme a Drone to fly and actually see it fly. Programming language to be used is Block coding and Python.
  • Pupils will create and play their games with codes JavaScript and Python
  • Pupils will see and learn different geometric shapes in the robot as they put them together. Simple and Maths concepts are also demonstrated while they assemble the Robot.
  • A Robot is modelled after nature and human beings/activities, pupils will be able to identify the eyes (sight sensors), the brain (contained in the Arduino) etc of a Robot.
  • Build chatbot with programming software
  • Design and Build 2D and 3D Games with Game Engine
  • Computer Design objects in 3D Model and Prrint out designed object with 3D Printing.
  • Pupils will receive a certificate for successful completion of Task.
